My favourite example of Media which I like is Revenge; an American
television soap. I would recommend to everyone to watch Revenge as it fits in
the genres of: Mystery, Psychological thriller & Drama which is pretty
confusing but that’s what I love about it, the way it’s complicated and
mysterious which makes you want to watch it even more. I am also a big fan of
it because a lot of thought and effort has been put into the story-lines as
there are so many, which hooks viewers in. Not only does the story-lines draw me
in but also the characters and actors who play them because it’s made so
realistic you can really empathize everything that is going on. Revenge has
become quite popular, as a US show it’s aired in many different countries which
widens their show fan base and increases the show views. Revenge debuted on
September 21, 2011 and is now on a series break however, will return for the third
season. Watching the show you realize how much work is put into it overall in
every area from planning to writing, production, creating, designing, advertising
and it makes you love every minute of it! There is nothing more I can say anymore
to anyone other than to watch it as I’m sure you’ll get hooked in!
I chose Media Studies as one of my GCSE options because media is a subject that I would enjoy to learn about. Also, because I have a strong interest in the topics we will be learning about, such as Magazine covers, Film trailers and many more. I chose Media as it will also help me in order to chose a career in the future that I will enjoy doing. Another reason is because media studies offers a variety of opportunities that I wouldn't miss out on, for example work experience at The Farm Group in Soho, Central London, which would be a great chance to improve my skills and find out the career choices which involve Media Studies. I also, look forward to using and experimenting with a range of different equipment which are used throughout the time in studying media. Media Studies was a option I knew was worth choosing!
